Katam powder is obtained by grinding the leaves of a shrub of the Buxaceae family, widespread in the desert and rocky areas of Yemen, and is a renowned dyeing herb that gives dark brown tones.

HAIR: Besides being a natural colorant, it is volumizing, strengthening and restructuring, with antibacterial and antifungal properties.

HUE NOTES: Used alone it allows to obtain an intense and natural brown without the need to add Henna. The coloring will be much darker than the Indigo: the Katam has more violet tones, so it can be added in small percentages to the Henna if you want to obtain more violet or plum shades.

    - The natural blond hair should do the Katam twice or first red Henna and then Katam.

    - The white hair must first make the red Henna and then the Katam (or mix of Katam and other dyeing Herbs) to obtain a homogeneous coverage.

Note: Do not apply pure on white, bleached or light blond hair to avoid unpleasant and unwanted green / blue color changes; in this case it is advisable to apply a first application of red Henna (for about 20/30 minutes), to direct white hair towards coppery tones, and a subsequent application of Katam. Do not make discolorations on colored hair with katam.

HISTORY and CURIOSITY: Yemeni women have always used this plant to obtain a darker hair, not being able to dye their hair black for religious reasons.

HOW TO USE: mix a sufficient amount of powder with warm water, until you get the consistency of a yogurt, wait 10 minutes. To get a better grip, you can alkalize the pasta, adding very little bicarbonate or a pinch of salt. Apply to perfectly clean hair from roots to lengths. Leave on for 1/2 hours. Rinse thoroughly and make a light and diluted Shampoo, like our shampoo all'Elicriso selvatico della Sardegna (Semplice Macchia Line). A final rinse with water and vinegar helps to keep the color longer.
